Alex & Ed Studio

Born and bred in Paris, at the age of 15, Alex enrolls at the prestigious Christian Chauvaux Ecole de maquillage. The years after graduation lead him to the fields of theatre, theatre and fashion. Soon he is accepted at one of Paris’ key fashion-professionals agencies. Working with internationally renowned make-up professionals brings him to Paris’ and Milan’s major fashion shows and fashion shoots, and subsequently to a career of his own. Encounters and experiences merge and lead him to settle in Antwerp in 2004. From then on he is represented by Brussels-based Dominique Models and does make-up at international fashion shows and Belgian magazines such as Weekend Knack, Le Vif l’Express and ELLE, as well as various international publications. From 2010-2013 Alex was Belgium’s ambassador for make-up brand Max Factor. Years of assisting his partner Ed have led him to master the art of hairdressing.

Born and raised in Tilburg, The Netherlands, Ed studies art, graphic design and advertising, before channeling these interests into hair styling. In his early twenties he moves to Antwerp where he is greatly inspired by the city’s rich cultural and social scene. He enrolls in a school for hairdressing and shortly after graduating assists renowned hair stylists. Moving to Paris in 1996 marks the start of his personal career. Ed is now represented by the international management agency, Jed Root and recently closed his 4 years consultancy for Sebastian International. Shot by top-photographers, his creations feature on the covers and pages of world’s major fashion magazines like Vogue, i-D, and Harper’s Bazaar and in advertisements of brands such as Givenchy, Lancôme, Christian Dior, Jimmy Choo, Levi’s, etcetera, etcetera…  Ed directs his own hairstyling team for catwalk shows, including Maison Martin Margiela, A.F. Vandevorst, Hugo Boss, and Cacharel. When in Europe, Shakira and Katy Perry had their hair groomed by Ed for some of their music videos and press campaigns.
